We’ve updated our 50:50 club details page to make it easier to join by online banking. At the moment the prize fund each month is sitting at over £70 so it’s a great time to join and every winner gets a nice bonus if their number is drawn!

New Information Pages
At this week’s information evening for P7 families joining the school we provided those attending with a pamphlet with information from parents about the school. Our aim was to pass on helpful information from other parents at the start of a family’s journey through high school.
The pamphlet for 2017 is available as a download. and we’ve added this information to the website as pages that can be used any time and may be of interest to existing parents too.
Scottish Maths Challenge
Congratulations to our students who won gold and silver awards in this year’s Scottish Maths Council Mathematics.

Winning students collected their awards during a ceremony at Edinburgh University. This is a great achievement by Trinity Academy students who put in one of the top performances in this region.
Wardie Summer Fair
Our friends at Wardie Primary have asked that we share some details of their summer fair that takes place on the 3rd of June. It’s sure to be fun and raises money for another worthy cause in our community.
Kung Fu Classes
Gary McCaw from the Scottish Academy of Chinese Martial Arts is teaching Kung Fu classes in the school. The next series of classes start Tuesday 25th April 7:00pm
Taster classes have been run for S1 for the last ten week but this series of classes will be open to all, including parents. There are more details on our Facebook page

Daniel Rachel
Last night, author Daniel Rachel was at the school talking about his book of interviews and conversations with with great British songwriters. It was fascinating to hear about the artists he met while researching his book, Isle of Noises — Ray Davies, Johnny Marr, Noel Gallagher, Laura Marling, Billy Bragg, Sting and many more.
For anyone interested in music this was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the craft and skill that goes into writing music and song lyrics. Funds raised last night will go towards an improved lighting and sound system for the school and benefit the musical life of the school.
Thank you Daniel for coming to Trinity and to parent Mike Nicholson for arranging the evening and interviewing Daniel.
Victoria Consultation Response
The Parent Council has now submitted its formal response to the consultation on the proposed catchment area changes and relocation of Victoria Primary School to a new site on the Western Harbour. You can read it in full in our downloads area.
The Parent Council accepts the proposed change of catchment area for our school. However, we also urge the Council to ensure that the need for necessary investment at Trinity Academy is addressed in the near future.
These changes are driven by the rising rolls in the primary schools in this area. It is also clear that the ‘bow wave’ of those rising rolls is currently in P5 and likely to further increase the pressure on Trinity Academy’s roll. City of Edinburgh Council papers have identified Trinity Academy as already having issues with its core facilities to meet its existing capacity and forecast roll increases will increase these pressures, with no solution currently identified.
We want to ensure that when we welcome increasing number of students to the school, they have the best possible environment and resources for learning.
The consultation process ends on Friday March 17th. Please add your own feedback to these proposals through the Council’s website or by email.
February 2017 Meeting
At our at tonight’s PC meeting we welcomed Councillor Cammy Day, Convenor of Education, and discussed future options for investment in Trinity Academy.
We discussed the Council’s consultation on changing the Trinity Academy catchment and moving Victoria Primary School and agreed that the Parent Council submission to the consultation will raise two points:
- We support the proposed change of catchment area for Trinity Academy as it formalises the established arrangement under which Trinity Academy is already
the appropriate non-denominational secondary school for the Western Harbour. - However, the proposals do not recognise that, because of the rising rolls driving this proposal, Trinity Academy already faces an impending capacity issue and this proposal does not define how these will be resolved. We urge the Council to ensure that the proposals are aligned with, and inform, necessary investment at Trinity Academy in the near future.
We will be writing to the Council with this response before the March 17 deadline.
20mph Zones
Phase 2 of the rollout of the 20miles per hour speed limit went live on 28 February 2017. The second phase is the largest construction phase in the scheme stretching from Granton to Portobello, Duddingston to Morningside, Gorgie to Murrayfield.
You can find out if your street is changing to 20mph by checking the interactive map.
Edinburgh is the first city in Scotland to roll out 20mph limits in this way.
